Combating Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is one of the most dangerous global challenges of the present time. This is a transnational crime, occupying a leading position in the criminal world on profitability. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in the modern world there are from 21 to 36 million victims of human trafficking.

Combating human trafficking is one of the priority areas of Belarus’s activity on the international arena.

At the UN 2005 Summit, the President of the Republic of Belarus proposed to intensify international anti-trafficking efforts.

Since 2006, the international community has taken decisive steps to strengthen joint efforts against human trafficking, many of which were initiated by Belarus.

Belarus cooperates actively with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to combat trafficking in persons.
