Belarus and Ukraine

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Ukraine were established on December 27, 1991. Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine has been operating since October 1993. More than 200 bilateral treaties and other international legal instruments have been signed between the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine.

The basic documents regulating bilateral political and economic cooperation are the Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation, and the Free Trade Agreement.

The Republic of Belarus and Ukraine are important trading partners for each other.

In 2021, trade turnover with Ukraine amounted to $ 6.9 billion. Exports of Belarusian goods to Ukraine amounted to $ 5.4 billion, imports accounted to $ 1.5 billion.

The Intergovernmental Belarusian-Ukrainian Mixed Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation is the main instrument for regulating trade and economic relations between the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine. The 27th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission was held on December 13, 2019 in Kiev.

In 2019, the Second Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Ukraine was successfully held in Zhytomyr. The heads of two states took part in forum.

In Ukraine, there is a well-developed commodity distribution network of Belarusian exporters, numbering more than one hundred companies. The flagships of Belarusian economy such as BelAZ, MAZ, MTZ, Belaruskali and Atlant have an extensive dealership network in Ukrainian regions.

Currently 13 joint assembly plants (tractors, combine harvesters, elevator equipment, trolleybuses, MAZ equipment, etc.) are operating in Ukraine.
