Belarus and Tajikistan

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Tajikistan were established on September 5, 1996. The Embassy of Tajikistan was opened in Minsk in 1997, the Embassy of Belarus in Dushanbe was opened in 2011.

Belarus and Tajikistan maintain an active political dialogue and interact constructively at international venues.

On May 14 – 16, 2018 President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko paid an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. 

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, E.S.Rahmon, visited the Republic of Belarus in 2019. The President of Tajikistan also took part in the closing ceremony of the II European Games 2019.

On September 27 – 29, 2018 in the framework of the Meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko paid a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.

On September 15-17, 2021 the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, took part in the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe. In 2021, the State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus, the Chair of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus also visited the Republic of Tajikistan.

In 2021 the trade turnover of Belarus and Tajikistan amounted to 126,1 million dollars, including the Belarusian export reaching 122,1 million dollars.

The basis of Belarusian export to Tajikistan is mainly represented by tractors and truck tractors, sugar, petroleum products, products of the woodworking industry, flour, stationery.

Cotton fiber, cotton and dried fruits yarn are mainly imported from Tajikistan to Belarus. 

On April 5, 2021, the 14th session of the Commission for the development of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe.

In April, 2021 the Business Forum "Tajikistan – Belarus – Afghanistan" with the participation of the representatives of chambers of commerce and business communities from the three countries, as well as the exhibition "Made in Belarus" was held in Dushanbe.
