Joint Report of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia “On the Human Rights Situation in Selected Countries” (2024)

This is the first joint report by the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Russia on the Human Rights situation in certain countries.

This study is the result of cooperation between the two states in the Human Rights field and serves as a natural continuation of the previous annual practice of publishing individual reports on the fundamental systemic problems Western societies experience in the field of Human Rights observance.

This document is not intended to judge any country on the basis of its effectiveness in human rights implementation. There is no such thing as a perfect state in this regard. The document is merely intended to illustrate, using concrete examples, the existence of serious gaps in the Western Human Rights profile. And as the report shows, there are plenty of such problems. This, however, does not prevent certain countries from lecturing others.....

The purpose of the report is to call for an understanding of the inadmissibility of dividing states into good and bad, to show the danger of applying double standards in assessing the observance of Human Rights in various states, to form the reader's conviction that it is counterproductive to use the Human Rights field as a tool for political pressure on unfavourable countries.

The Republic of Belarus has always advocated and continues to advocate for mutually respectful dialogue in the field of international cooperation on the protection and promotion of human rights.
