Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus regarding the escalation of the situation in the Caribbean
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus strongly condemns any aggressive actions aimed at creating tension in the international situation in the Caribbean and in Latin America as a whole.
Belarus consistently advocates international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking. At the same time, we consider unfounded and politically motivated accusations against sovereign states, in particular the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its leadership, of supporting terrorism and illicit drug trafficking to be unacceptable.
We call on all parties to strictly adhere to the provisions of the UN Charter, above all the principles of refraining from the threat or use of force, as well as non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
We are convinced that any disputes should be resolved exclusively by peaceful means through dialogue without resorting to military force or pressure.
The Republic of Belarus reaffirms its support for the legitimately elected President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the government of that country, consistently advocating for the preservation of its sovereignty, independence and stability.
