Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Aleinik meets the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus

On April 18, 2024 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus, Rasul Baghirov, who has presented his Credentials signed by the United Nation's Secretary-General on assignment to this post.

The parties exchanged their views on the current situation and perspectives of the interaction between Belarus and the United Nations. The issues of the socio-economic development of the country and achieving sustainable development goals within the frameworks of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development have been determined as high priority directions of cooperation with the United Nations.

Negative impact of the illegal policy of sanctions on sustainable development, including the global food security, and the programme activities of the United Nations in the Republic of Belarus, were also discussed at the meeting.

S.Aleinik invited R.Baghirov to take part in the thematic session of the Council for Sustainable Development, dedicated to the International Memorial Day of the Chernobyl Disaster on April 23, 2024 and to actively join the preparatory work on holding the second National Forum on Sustainable Development planned to be held on July 19,2024.

The parties agreed to continue developing constructive relations between Belarus and the United Nations.
