On the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov to the DPRK

On 24 July 2024, during the official visit of the Belarusian delegation to the DPRK, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxim Ryzhenkov, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Choe Son-hui in Pyongyang.    


The parties discussed in detail the whole range of bilateral issues and agreed on specific measures to intensify contacts between the countries at various levels.

The parties reached agreement on the next steps to further develop the legal framework and intensify cooperation between the foreign ministries, as well as in a number of areas. Among them are the spheres of healthcare, education, agriculture, culture and sport.

The Ministers noted the convergence of positions and agreed to continue joint efforts to move towards a just multipolar world order. In this context, the two countries discussed interaction in international organizations and the situation in the sphere of global and regional security.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK expressed support for the efforts of Belarus to resist the illegal sanctions and restrictions imposed by a group of Western states.

The talks with the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the DPRK, Co-Chairman of the Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation,  Yun Jong Ho, were devoted to the development of bilateral economic cooperation in areas not restricted by the decisions of the UN Security Council. In this regard, special attention was paid to food security, education and healthcare, mutual supplies of certain goods, including Belarusian food products to the DPRK, as well as traditional Korean cosmetics for the Belarusian market.

Together with the representative of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the parties discussed cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries and mutual participation in exhibitions and fairs.

An agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation this year.

As part of the working program, the Belarusian delegation, which also included the First Deputy Minister of Education, Alexander Bakhanovich, the First Deputy Minister of Information, Andrey Kuntsevich, the Deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Starovoytov, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Vadim Shagoiko, held a series of negotiations with its partners.

As part of the protocol events, at the suggestion of the host country, the delegation visited the National Monument of Juche Ideas and the State Museum of Gifts of the DPRK.
