On December 9, 2022 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Yuri Ambrazevich, met with the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres. The issues of international and regional security, the negative impact of unilateral sanctions on global food security were discussed.

During the meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, the Deputy Foreign Minister stated the inability of the international community to find consensus on a significant number of critical issues on the international agenda, which pose a direct threat to the multilateralism system. He emphasized the inadmissibility of the policy of excluding or limiting the participation of individual states in the system of international relations. Y.Ambrazevich called for the resumption of a broad international dialogue with the aim of restoring the collective security system as soon as possible.

Taking into account the chairmanship of Belarus in the CSTO, the Deputy Foreign Minister declared Belarus' readiness to work on the development and deepening of cooperation between the UN and the CSTO.

R.DiCarlo expressed concern about the further aggravation of the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Despite the lack of tangible progress in the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict, she stressed that there is no alternative to its solution through diplomacy, noting the efforts of Minsk to establish a negotiation process.
