Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt S.Terentiev visits the city of Alexandria

On November 16-17, 2020 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sergei Terentiev, paid a working visit to the city of Alexandria.

During the meeting of S.Terentiev with the Governor of Alexandria, Mohamed Al-Sherif, the issues of trade and economic cooperation in the areas of agriculture and food security, personnel training, high technologies, were considered. The Ambassador S.Terentiev confirmed the readiness of Belarusian enterprises to participate in the mechanization of agriculture in this Egyptian region, to increase the supply of Belarusian dairy products and to continue purchasing Egyptian vegetables and fruits, including those produced in the governorate of Alexandria.

An agreement on inviting Belarusian manufacturers of tractors and agricultural machinery to participate in tenders held at the governorship level was reached.

The parties noted the need to intensify interaction in the field of tourism and agreed to promote an increase in the tourist flow between Belarus and Egypt.

As part of the development of cooperation with the League of Arab States, S.Terentiev visited the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

Background Information. Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, headquartered in Alexandria, is a specialized organization under the League of Arab States, as well as a leading regional university for training specialists in the field of logistics, maritime affairs, engineering, computer technology and pharmaceuticals.

The Ambassador suggested considering the possibility of establishing cooperation between the Academy and the Belarusian State University. During the negotiations the possibilities of implementing bilateral educational projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, software development, information security, biotechnology and physics were also considered.
