Gennadi Novitski and Mikhail Khvostov Congratulate Their Bulgarian Counterparts

On March 3, the Bulgarian people mark the 125th anniversary of Bulgaria’s liberation.

On this occasion Prime Minister of Belarus Gennadi Novitski has sent to his Bulgarian counterpart Simeon Saxkoburggotski a congratulation message. In his address the Belarusian premier indicated that “further development of mutually beneficial trade and economic, scientific and technical, and cultural links meets the interests of the two nations, which have common history, culture, and spirituality”.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Mikhail Khvostov has also sent a letter of congratulations to the Bulgarian Foreign Minister. In the letter Mr. Khvostov stressed that “mutually beneficial cooperation of our countries will develop further on for the benefit of the two nations”.

Belarus and Bulgaria established diplomatic relations March 26, 1992.

In 2002 Belarusian export to Bulgaria amounted to $7.95 million, while import ran to $12 million. Belarus exports tyres, tractors, automobiles, equipment for automobiles and tractors, engines, glass, bearings, synthetic fibre, artificial threads, potash fertilisers, etc. to Bulgaria, while import includes loaders, medicines and antibiotics, sulphates, grape wines, tobacco, starch, fruit, and vegetables.

So far the Bulgarian chamber of commerce has registered 16 joint ventures and companies representing Belarusian enterprises in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian market has dealers of the Belarusian Automobile Plant, Minsk Automobile Plant, and a joint venture with Minsk Bearings Plant.
