Alexander Lukashenko Extends Condolences over the Death of Yevgeny Matveyev (press release by press service of the President)

On behalf of the Belarusian people and on his own behalf, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko extended condolences over the death of the People’s Artist of the USSR Yevgeni Matveyev to his wife and children.

The creative activities of Yevgeny Semyonovich are highly refined in thought and feeling, they exemplify tireless service to the ideals of patriotism and humanism, underscored the Head of the State. The multi-faceted talent of Yevgeny Matveyev is brilliantly realized in the actor’s splendid roles and in his films permeated with kindness, heartfelt generosity and nobleness. The films by Matveyev are a special epoch in the cinema’s history; they are greatly admired by cinema viewers of various generations.

“The name of Yevgeny Matveyev is widely known in the Belarusian land. Our people will never forget his enormous contribution to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Belarus and Russia. We are proud that Belarusian cinematographers participated in the creation of the cinema great master’s trilogy “Love, Russian Style,” noted the President.
