Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus I.Sekreta holds briefing on cooperation with International Labour Organisation

On 21 May 2026, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sekreta, held a briefing for representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country on cooperation with the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Igor Sekreta paid particular attention to the state of cooperation with the Organisation in the context of the ongoing illegal sanctions pressure on Belarus.

The deputy head of the Foreign Ministry briefed the participants on the work carried out by the Government of Belarus to implement the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry, the results of which were positively assessed by the ILO and demonstrated the Belarusian side’s readiness for constructive cooperation. 

The briefing participants were informed of the Belarusian side’s position regarding the application of Article 33 of the ILO Constitution to Belarus, emphasising the need to revoke this decision as unjust and politically motivated.

The Deputy Minister noted that any conclusions and recommendations by ILO bodies must be based on reliable facts, must not exceed the organisation’s remit, and must not constitute interference in a state’s internal affairs.

It was emphasised that every ILO member state has the right to be heard, and that a policy of isolation inevitably leads to the undermining of the Organisation’s authority and the erosion of its principles.
