Ambassador of Belarus L.Marinich meets the First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan

On April 8, 2022 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan, Leonid Marinich, met with the First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on the results of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan in 2021 and the beginning of this year. 

The sides emphasized mutual interest in increasing Belarus-Uzbekistan trade turnover and giving an additional impetus to production and cooperation projects implemented by the two countries. The upcoming bilateral events at the governmental level and between business circles of Belarus and Uzbekistan were also discussed. 

Background Information: In 2021, the trade turnover between Belarus and Uzbekistan amounted to 301.9 million dollars and increased by 7.8 percent compared to 2020, exports amounted to 245.4 million dollars (an increase of 3.3 percent), imports amounted to 56.5 million dollars (an increase of 32.5 percent). The positive balance is 188.9 million dollars. In January-February 2022, the trade turnover of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to $53.5 million and increased by 9.9 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2021.
