IV Belarusian-Latin American Forum

On April 9, 2025 the IV Belarusian-Latin American Forum was held at the site of the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, organised by the National Center for Marketing and Price Study and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
 
The event was attended by diplomats from 11 Latin American embassies in the Russian Federation, 10 of which were represented at the level of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Moreover, the Forum was attended by the heads of trade missions of the countries of the region and heads of trade and economic services of the embassies of Latin American states, representatives of the business circles of several Latin American countries.

The programme of the event included two main blocks: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and metallurgy, as well as chemistry and petrochemistry.

Representatives of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, Belneftekhim Concern, as well as enterprises, such as Gomselmash, MAZ, BELAZ, Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after V.I.Kozlov, Mogilevliftmash, BSW, Grodno Azot, Belshina and Gomel Chemical Plant, made presentations to the forum participants.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Evgeny Shestakov, stated that besides the political component Belarus focuses on trade and economic cooperation with Latin American countries, since the economies of our countries traditionally complement each other. The Deputy Foreign Minister also stressed that within the framework of such events it is necessary not only to discuss the potential of our country, but also to recommend for business entities the modalities of working in the huge promising Latin American market.

In turn, the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, Alexander Rogozhnik, noted that Latin American countries pursue independent policies in the international arena based on their national interests, and stressed that Belarus fully shares this approach.

During his stay in Moscow, Evgeny Shestakov held bilateral meetings with the ambassadors of several Latin American states.

During a conversation with the Ambassador of Argentina to Russia, Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieira, E.Shestakov expressed hope for giving significant dynamics to the Belarusian-Argentine dialogue. The Ambassador of Argentina, in turn, expressed interest in the products of the Belarusian agricultural machinery industry.

During the meeting with the Ambassador of Bolivia to Russia, Maria Luisa Ramos Ursagaste, the deputy head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry proposed holding inter-ministerial consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers, as well as a regular meeting of the commission on trade and economic cooperation.

On the same day, Evgeny Shestakov and the Ambassador of Colombia to Russia and Belarus concurrently, Héctor Isidro Arenas Neira, signed an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Colombia on the mutual cancellation of short-stay visas.
