Consultations on SCO international activities and regional security issues

On  April 3, 2025 Moscow hosted the next round of consultations on the international activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and regional security at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the SCO member states.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Lukashevich.

The consultations were aimed at deepening the foreign policy coordination of the SCO member states in order to strengthen the international positions of the Organisation and its geopolitical subjectivity. 

Particular attention was paid to the issues of strengthening regional security and modernisation of the SCO mechanisms for countering challenges and threats, as well as other areas of SCO reforms.

The Belarusian side stressed the importance of developing joint approaches to global agenda issues within the SCO, strengthening coordination of the positions of the SCO member states in the UN and other international organisations.

Also on the margins of the event, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus S.Lukashevich met with the heads of the delegations of Russia, China and Iran to discuss topical issues of cooperation within the SCO, as well as the bilateral agenda.
