Foreign Minister S.Aleinik meets the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia

On June 24, 2024 within the framework of the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, to the Republic of Belarus, the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Russia held talks in a narrow and extended format.

Minister Sergei Aleinik discussed with his Russian counterpart topical issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation and interaction on the international arena. 

Special attention was paid to the issues of international and regional security, cooperation within the framework of integration associations, coordination of efforts on international platforms, countering the sanctions policy of the collective West, and building up mutually beneficial dialogue with friendly countries and political associations. 

The Ministers have noted the active dynamics of Belarusian-Russian contacts at all levels, the high results of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the trusting and constructive nature of the interaction between the two Foreign Ministries 

On the eve of the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory, the Ministers stressed the importance of joint efforts to preserve the historical truth about the great feat of the Soviet people, as well as to counteract the falsification of history and the spread of Nazi ideology.

Following the talks, the Foreign Ministers adopted a Joint Statement on the Main Tasks of the Foreign Policy Dimension of the Union Integration of Belarus and Russia and signed a Joint Letter to the Heads of International Organisations on Approaches to Eurasian Security.
