Belarus' Chairmanship of the EAEU in 2025
In 2025, the Republic of Belarus assumes the Chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This is the third time that Belarus has assumed the Chairmanship of the EAEU.
The priorities of the Belarusian chairmanship were outlined in the Address of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to the leaders of the EAEU member states, published in January 2025.
1. It is necessary to focus joint efforts on developing the technological potential of the EAEU member states and creating a common space for cooperation in all sectors of the economy.
2. To improve food security of the Union, it is proposed to concentrate efforts on the development of breeding and seed production, increasing the genetic potential of pedigree farm animals.
3. The formation of a common transport space should be completed with the adoption of equal (non-discriminatory) conditions and ensuring fair competition, especially in air transport between our countries.
4. It is necessary to carry out targeted work on levelling the conditions for economic activity, creating a common and transparent competitive environment in the internal space of the Union.
5. In the current conditions, it is necessary to continue the work aimed at the protection of the internal market. Such activities should be aimed both at improving customs and tariff regulation to equalise the conditions for economic activity in the EAEU and at fully protecting the Eurasian market from unsafe products.
6. It is also required to intensify cooperation between the EAEU member states in the field of digital transformation.
7. A new impetus is also needed to develop international cooperation in all its formats, to create additional conditions for the promotion of the Union's goods in foreign markets.
8. Equally important is joint work aimed at supplementing the economic track of integration with social and humanitarian issues.
9. It is necessary to shift to a new level of information interaction in order to take effective measures against various destructive resources and aggressive attacks.
