Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas participates in the meeting of the Belarus-China Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Relations

On August 24, 2018 in Beijing the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, took part in the joint meeting of the Commission on Trade and Economic Relations of the Belarus – China Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic Belarus, A.Cherviakov, and the Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (ministerial level), Fu Ziying.

During the meeting, the commission considered current issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including the development of the Great Stone Industrial Park, credit and investment cooperation, bilateral cooperation of Belarusian and Chinese public enterprises, interregional cooperation, as well as the issue of increasing the exports of Belarusian goods and services to China. 

In his statement, A.Dapkiunas highlighted the critical importance for Belarus of the first China International Import Expo to be held on November 5 – 10, 2018 in Shanghai, as an opportunity to give a new impetus to export of Belarusian goods and services to China. The Belarusian diplomat called the upcoming exhibition a unique chance for Belarusian producers to strengthen their positions at one of the largest world markets.

The Deputy Minister also drew attention to the importance of step-by-step effort to create a healthy Belarus-China trade balance. A.Dapkiunas pointed out that the sides may achieve this goal meeting the interests of both countries.

After the meeting, the sides signed the final protocol, as well as agreed to further promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
