Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in connection with the terrorist attack in Syria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus strongly condemns the brutal terrorist attack carried out by the Islamic State on July 25, 2018 and the subsequent attacks of terrorist bands on settlements near the Syrian city of As-Suwayda that caused numerous human casualties.

Inhuman acts of violence against the civilian population in Syria can not be justified and should not remain without a strict consolidated reaction of the world community. Fight against terrorist and extremist groups should be one of its’ top priorities.

We consistently advocate the establishment of peace in Syria and will never tolerate any form of terrorism.

With deep pain Belarus has learnt tragic news about a large number of dead and injured among Syrian citizens. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
