Meeting of Eastern Partnership and Visegrad Group Deputy Foreign Ministers

On March 15, 2017 for the first time Minsk hosted a working meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Eastern Partnership (EaP) and Visegrad Group (V4). The event was Co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Marek Ziolkowski.

The meeting was held under the auspices of the Belarusian Presidency in the Central European Initiative and the Polish Presidency in V4.

In his welcoming address to the delegates, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, confirmed Belarus’ commitment to result-oriented cooperation between EaP and V4 countries in the areas of common interest.

The delegations discussed the cooperation between local and regional authorities of EaP and V4 countries, cooperation in the sphere of transport, cross-border cooperation, promotion of connectivity in the region, as well as strengthening contacts between the EaP and V4 in the sphere of education.

The parties also considered the issues of cooperation of EaP and V4 countries within the framework of the Eastern Partnership. The participants’ approaches to the upcoming EaP Summit in November 2017 were also discussed at the meeting.
