Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas meets the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus

On November 29, 2019 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Belarus, Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki.

The interlocutors discussed topical issues of cooperation between Belarus and the UN agencies. In particular, the sides touched upon organization of the first visit to Minsk by the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Natalia Kanem, development of a new cooperation framework between Belarus and the UN for 2021–2025, as well as project collaboration in the sphere of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

A.Dapkiunas and J.Kazana-Wisniowiecki confirmed the importance of the work of the National Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals aimed at coordinating the activities of government bodies and their national partners in the field of sustainable development, and agreed on further support of these activities by the UN system.

The Deputy Minister and the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus also exchanged views on further joint measures for ensuring the inclusion of the national socio-economic development priorities in the new cooperation framework between Belarus and the UN.
