Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas visits the Republic of Korea

On September 4, 2018 the Belarusian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Dapkiunas, visited Seoul (Republic of Korea) to take part in the fifth meeting of the Joint Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Korea. The delegation included representatives of the leadership of the State Committee for Science and Technology, National Academy of Sciences, Belarusian State Concern for Oil and Chemistry, National Investment and Privatization Agency, as well as experts from the Ministry of Communications and Informatization and the Ministry of Industry.

Korean delegation at the meeting of the committee was headed by the Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs, Yun Kang-hyeon.

During the meeting, the parties noted their interest in further development of Belarusian-Korean contacts, highlighted a successful cooperation in the sphere of high technologies, including in the context of activity of industrial and technology parks, agreed to intensify cooperation on sharing best practices in the development of small and medium enterprises, as well as in the field of information and communication technologies, including the development of paperless trade system and other e-government related projects.

The Belarusian side confirmed its’ interest in the establishment of a visa-free regime with the Republic of Korea on a bilateral basis.

Following the results of the meeting, the sides signed Protocol which reflects the main agreements. The next meeting of the committee is scheduled to be held in Minsk.
