Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus A.Dapiuknas addresses the High-level segment of the Conference on Disarmament

On February 25, 2019 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, took part in the High-level segment of the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.

 
In his address A.Dapkiunas called upon the participants of the meeting to assess the depth of the security crisis that the international community faced in recent years.

The Belarusian representative stressed that the response to the current crisis can only be the immediate launch of large-scale multilateral negotiations to overcome the whole range of differences. Negotiations should be aimed at the development of new algorithms and acceptable to all rules of behavior in the context of the growing multipolarity of international relations.

A.Dapkiunas formulated the approaches of the Republic of Belarus to the possible role of the Conference on reducing tensions and responding to new challenges and threats to international security.

The delegation of Belarus takes an active part in the work of the Conference on Disarmament and supports the necessity to revive the work of this multilateral negotiating mechanism as soon as possible.
