25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Belarus

On March 10, 2017 the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Belgium is marked.The Belarusian Side is pleased to note the intensification of the political dialogue between both countries and deepening of bilateral cooperation in various spheres.

Belgium is one of the leading trade partners of Belarus and in 2016 occupied the 13th рosition among the countries of the world and the 7th position among the countries-members of the EU for the volume of Belarusian export.

The contacts with the Belgian regions Flandria and Vallonia are characterized by special positive dynamics. The working visits of the delegations at different levels are regular organized.

During decades, Belgian citizens and public organizations annually accept for recreation children from the Belarusian regions, affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant catastrophе. This activity became inalienable part of friendly relations between the two countries and their peoples.

Great importance is given to the representatives of diasporas and honorary consuls of both countries, that as well make contribution to the development of the economical and people to people contacts

Historically established friendship between the people of Belarus and Belgium represents an invaluable heritage, that we can be proud of and which we must cherish and promote.
