Belarusian-South African Business Seminar

On March 23, 2018 on the sidelines of the 4th session of the Belarusian-South African Committee for Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of South Africa hosted business seminar with the participation of the business circles of the two countries.

The event, which was attended by about 30 South African companies and a number of leading business associations of South Africa, was opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, and the Deputy Director General of the Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa, Yunus Hoosen.

During the seminar, the representatives of the South African business community were acquainted with the production and export potential of Belarus. Heads of foreign economic units of the ministries of industry and agriculture presented reviews of the industrial and agricultural sectors of Belarus. Several presentations of Minsk Tractor Works, Minsk Automobile Plant and the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus were held.

As a result of the event a number of significant agreements were reached, including the supply of drilling tools to South Africa by “Agrostroy” LLC, products of “Belryba” OJSC, as well as of MAZ municipal and truck equipment valued $3 millions, supported by the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus and the South African Industrial Development Corporation.
