Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas meets the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus

On July 6, 2018 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, met with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus, Andrea Victorin.

A.Victorin informed the Belarusian side about the outcome of the meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the nuclear programme of Iran held at the ministerial level in Vienna.

The sides once again emphasized the commitment of Belarus and the European Union to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the nuclear programme of Iran and the importance of this document for the preservation of the regional peace and security.

The Deputy Minister stressed the need to find practical ways to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and the importance of the development and coordination of the collective mechanisms for cooperation, which could neutralize the effects of unilateral extraterritorial sanctions.

During the conversation, the parties also discussed the development of cooperation between Belarus and the European Union in promoting human rights, including in the context of the participation of the Belarusian representative in the summit “Open Government” in Tbilisi (Georgia) on the issue of cooperation between civil society and authorities, as well as the upcoming fifth round of the bilateral dialogue on human rights to be held in Minsk on July 17, 2018.
