Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Andrei Dapkiunas participates in the Eurasian Economic Commission thematic event

On July 10, 2017 in New York, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Andrei Dapkiunas participated in the roundtable discussion “Eurasian Economic Integration till 2025 And SDG 2030: Aligning Agendas”.

The event was initiated by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and took place on the margins of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development that started its work at the UN headquarters.

The participants discussed the contribution of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC) to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on sustainable development by the Member States of the Union. Oleg Pankratov, Vice-Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic as a representative of the country presiding in governing bodies of the EAEU, and Tatiana Valovaya, Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC were the keynote speakers. Representatives of the EAEU Member States, a number of states, the United Nations Development Programme took part in the event.

In his remarks, A. Dapkunas noted the importance that Belarus attaches to the development of regional economic integration, the activities of the EAEU, as well as to the establishment of closer interaction among integration associations. The Belarusian diplomat supported the efforts undertaken by EEC to expand ties with other countries and integration associations.

A.Dapkunas welcomed the presentation of the EAEU review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the High-level Political Forum, the first among the regional structures of the world, and described this as an important practical step of joint efforts by the EAEC Member States to achieve the SDGs and to enhance the authority of the EAEU in the international arena.
