Statement by Belarus MFA Press Secretary Andrei Popov With Regard to the Escalation of the Situation in the Middle East

Minsk, 14 July 2006

Belarus has learned with deep anxiety about the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. We urge the sides of the conflict to show restrain, not allow the armed clashes developing into a full-scale military conflict, and to immediately start adjusting the existing contradictions through negotiations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls upon all Belarusian citizens to restrain from visiting the countries of the region engaged in this armed conflict until the situation is normalized.
