First Meeting of the Belarusian-Ukrainian Working Group

On April 25, 2019 Zhytomyr hosted the first meeting of the Belarusian-Ukrainian Working Group on Interregional and Cross-border Cooperation, established following a meeting in October 2018 of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Ukrainian Mixed Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Evdochenko, the Ukrainian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine on European Integration, Taras Tokarsky.

The Belarusian side also included representatives of the Foreign Ministry, local authorities, border and customs services, Belarusian chamber of commerce and industry, and non-governmental organizations.

The participants of the meeting discussed the preparations for the second Forum of Regions of the two countries to be held in October, 2019 in Zhytomyr.

The issues regarding the work of checkpoints on the Belarusian-Ukrainian state border were also considered.
