Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets FAO Assistant Director General

On February 22, 2018 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the Assistant Director General, Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Vladimir Rakhmanin.

During the meeting, the sides discussed implementation of the Country Programming Framework for the Republic of Belarus for 2017- 2020, which was signed last September. The sides stressed the importance to continue enhancement of cooperation, including through participation in FAO regional programmes. 

In this context, the parties noted with satisfaction that in January 2018 FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia approved the project “Strengthening the regional preparedness, prevention and response against lumpy skin disease in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine”. 

During his visit to Belarus, V.Rakhmanin took part in the Regional SDG Coordination Leaders Forum: Building a Partnership to Underpin National Sustainable Development Solutions, organized by the MFA of Belarus in partnership with the United Nations. Assistant Director General also met with high-level officials of the Ministries of Agriculture and Forestry.
