Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania

On November 9, 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Teodor Melescanu, who is paying an official visit to our country. 

The Foreign Ministers of Belarus and Romania discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in an open and constructive atmosphere. The parties considered specific plans for the future and agreed to continue working together in order to intensify collaboration in trade due to a shared view that further boost of trade and economic cooperation is a priority task on the bilateral agenda. In this connection, the sides emphasized the need to make full use of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Romanian commission on economic cooperation.

The Ministers also discussed the development of relations between Belarus and the European Union, promising areas of interaction within such international organizations as the UN, the OSCE and the Council of Europe along with the Central European Initiative and the Eastern Partnership program.

The parties exchanged views on a number of topical issues on the international agenda. V.Makei and T.Melescanu stressed the importance of normalization of the situation in the region, strengthening stability and security in Europe.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Romania also participated in the solemn event dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as took part in the ceremony of the commemorative stamp cancellation.
