On June 13-14, 2016 delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, headed by Deputy Minister Alena Kupchyna visited Helsinki.

Head of Belarusian delegation met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Timo Soini. The sides discussed current progress and development prospects of the Belarusian-Finnish and EU-Belarus relations, cooperation within the international organization.



Consultations between foreign ministries of Belarus and Finland

During the visit the consultations between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Finland took place. Belarussian side on the event was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna, Finnish by Director General of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry Terhi Hakala. The parties discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including developments in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and other areas.

The participants noted the mutual interest of both countries in expansion of trade contacts, implementation of joint projects including the initiatives related to the entry into the market of Eurasian Economic Union.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus met with Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the Parliament of Finland Antti Kaikkonen. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of current progress and prospects for development of bilateral relations between Belarus and Finland, relations with the neighbouring countries and European Union, including “Eastern Partnership” and deepening of interparliamentary cooperation.
