Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the escalation of tensions in Karabakh
04 August 2022
The Republic of Belarus is closely following the positive developments in the process of normalization of the Azerbaijani-Armenian relations and is genuinely interested in achieving durable peace and stability, unblocking of transport communications in the South Caucasus region.
In this regard, we express our deep concern at the renewed escalation of the armed confrontation in Karabakh.
We call on our brotherly nations of Azerbaijan and Armenia to show restraint. We assume that Baku and Yerevan will show wisdom and prudence.
We express our hope for full and unconditional observance of the agreements concluded by the parties with Russian mediation.
We are convinced that compromises can be reached by political and diplomatic means within the framework of the existing negotiation formats.
