Belarusian delegation participates in the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

On April 25, 2017 at the Headquarters of the UN Office in Geneva, the Belarusian delegation headed by the Head of General Department for Multilateral Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Larysa Belskaya, participated in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for the countries of the region.

Delegations from European and Central Asian countries, the United States and Canada discussed possible ways to intensify the regional cooperation in this direction.

In her statements during round tables dedicated to the exchange of national experience in building instruments aimed at achieving the sustainable development goals adopted by the Heads of all states of the world at the UN summit in 2015, L.Belskaya underlined that Belarus was committed to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and has already taken a number of important steps to implement it at the national level.

The Belarusian diplomat informed about the implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Republic of Belarus for the period until 2030, the establishment of the position of national coordinator for sustainable development, and plans for further work in this area.

L.Belskaya also briefed participants of the Forum on the intention of the Government of Belarus to submit the first national report of the Republic of Belarus on achieving SDGs at the High-level Political Forum of the UN Economic and Social Council to be held in New York in July 2017.
