Belarus-EU human rights dialogue held in Minsk

On June 7, 2016 Minsk hosted Human Rights Dialogue (HRD) between the Republic of Belarus and the European Union.

During the consultations, the delegation of Belarus was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alena Kupchyna. The delegation included representatives of the MFA, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection as well as Central Election Commission of Belarus. The European Union was represented by experts of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Commission led by the Managing Director of the EEAS for Europe and Central Asia, Thomas Mayr-Harting.

In the course of the dialogue, the whole complex of human rights issues, including legal framework of human rights protection, was discussed. Special attention was paid to the rights of persons with disabilities and preventing of violence in the family, as well as cooperation within international organizations.

The next round of Belarus-EU HRD will be held in 2017 in Brussels.
