Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the delegation of the EBRD

On September 14, 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), headed by the EBRD President, Suma Chakrabarti.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current state of cooperation between Belarus and the EBRD, the implementation of joint projects in banking sector, municipal and transport infrastructure, renewable energy and privatization.

Touching upon further development of cooperation, the sides agreed on possibilities of expanding the Bank’s engagement in Belarus both through creating new directions and frameworks of joint work, and by increasing funding of current projects.

Background Information: The current visit of the President of the EBRD S.Chakrabarti to Belarus is the second one. The first visit took place in 2015. During the visit, meetings were held with the leadership of the Government, the National Bank, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance. The parties signed several documents aiming at expansion of lending to small and medium-sized businesses in the national currency, attracting strategic investors to enterprises in public sector of the economy.
