Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia on the problems of countries in sub-Saharan Africa

On June 6, 2016, Minsk hosted Belarus-Russia ministerial consultations on the problems of countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Belarusian delegation was led by the Head of Africa and Middle East Department of the MFA, Igor Leschenya, Russian delegation was headed by the Director of the Africa Department of the Foreign Ministry, Valery Utkin.

During consultations, the sides discussed the situation on the African continent, the prospects for resolving the situation in the “hot” spots, as well as the possibility of establishment and development of contacts between the Eurasian Economic Union and the integration associations in Africa.

The sides noted the common approaches and readiness to cooperate to promote common interests in the region, especially in the economic field.
