New Building of Cuban Embassy Opened in Minsk (press release by MFA press service)

A new building of the Cuban Embassy in Belarus has been opened in Minsk on December 18, 2002.

The ceremony of opening of the new building was timed to the reception on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of Cuban revolution. Belarusian ministers and representatives of the general public attended the reception.

In their speeches during the ceremony deputy foreign minister of Belarus Alexander Sychev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Felix Leon Carbalier stressed that the high level of the Belarus-Cuba relations is based on good traditions of co-operation established decades ago.

The Cuban Embassy in Belarus was founded in May 1997. The premises for the Cuban diplomatic corps in Krasnozvezdnaya street in Minsk have been allocated on mutuality terms. The opening of the building of the Belarusian embassy in Havana working since November 1998 took place in September 2000 during the official visit to Cuba of the Belarusian president.
