In his statement, A.Dapkiunas noted that the CSTO as a multifunctional structure has become an important partner of the international community in the promotion of peace and security, and responding to current challenges and threats.

The resolution welcomes the contribution of the CSTO to a number of areas of international cooperation in support of the UN objectives and principles. This concerns issues such as countering terrorism and transnational organized crime, fight against illicit trafficking in drugs and weapons, illegal migration and human trafficking, combating natural and man-made disasters. Additionally, the document emphasizes the development of the CSTO peacekeeping potential.

On all these issues the CSTO is ready to initiate multilateral cooperation mechanisms. During the Presidency in the CSTO, Belarus intends to propose a number of concrete ideas for cooperation between the UN and the CSTO on the basis of provisions of the resolution adopted by the General Assembly.
