Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus O.Kravchenko visits Germany

On February 22-24, 2017 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, visited the Federal Republic of Germany.

During the visit, Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Germany were held.

The delegation of Germany was headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Markus Ederer.



During the consultations, the sides discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Belarus and Germany, prospects for the expansion of bilateral cooperation, Belarus-EU dialogue, as well as the situation in the region. Special attention was paid to the preparation of joint events dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the visit to Berlin, Deputy Foreign Minister met with the Adviser of the Federal Chancellor of Germany on Foreign and Security Policy, Christoph Heusgen. The sides discussed the priorities of cooperation in the framework of bilateral and regional agenda.

The intensification of interparliamentary cooperation was discussed in the German Bundestag with a member of the German-Belarusian Parliamentary Group, Karl-Georg Wellmann.

At the meeting with the member of the Executive Board of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Matthias Platzeck, the sides discussed the possibility of the promotion of cooperation between Belarus and the Foundation, including the development of collaboration in economic and social spheres.

During the visit to Germany, O.Kravchenko participated in the conference “New rules and space — opportunities for enterprises in Russia and in the Eurasian Economic Union” organized by the German Union of Chambers of Industry and Commerce.



In his statement, the Head of the Belarusian delegation stressed the importance of integration processes on the continent for the economic development, the need to ensure compatibility and establish pragmatic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union, stressed the economic potential and comparative advantages of Belarus for German investors.

During the event, the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and the Union of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce was signed.



Prospects for development of Belarus-Germany cooperation in economic and investment spheres were discussed at the meeting with the Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of German Economy, Michael Harms. The sides agreed to stimulate the activity of Belarusian-German Business Council and facilitate the exchange of visits of the representatives of business circles.



O.Kravchenko also participated in the events dedicated to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland, and laid a wreath at the The Soviet War Memorial (Tiergarten).
