Delegation of Belarus takes part in the 69th Session of the UNHCR Executive Committee

On October 1-5 Geneva is hosting the 69th session of the Executive Council of the Programme of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The delegation of Belarus headed by the Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Yury Ambrazevich takes part in the session.
On October 2 the Head of the delegation of Belarus delivered a statement in the general debate. He praised the work carried out by the UNHCR on providing protection to both refugees and stateless persons and focused on the draft global compact on refugees that has been negotiated in Geneva in the course of 2018.
The Head of the Belarus’ delegation drew attention to the initiative of the President of Belarus to begin a global security dialogue, whose implementation would help, inter alia, eliminate such root causes underlying massive forced displacement as wars and conflicts.
