International Conference “Laying the foundation in the UNECE region for economic integration and sustainable development towards 2030”

On October 26, 2016 International Conference “Laying the foundation in the UNECE region for economic integration and sustainable development towards 2030”, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the United Nations Economic Commission, started its’ work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.



The event is held in elaboration of “integration of integration” initiative launched by the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at the United Nations Summit in 2015.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Kobyakov, attended the opening ceremony of the Conference. The Prime Minister presented welcome address on behalf of the Head of State.



In his speech at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, noted an important role of the UN European Economic Commission, as a unique multilateral mechanism for pan-European cooperation in trade, transport, energy, “green economy”, innovation, in the development of cooperation between the various integration associations in the Eurasian continent aimed at the promotion of global political stability and prosperity. The Foreign Minister stressed that Belarus advocates the use of trans-European cooperation opportunities, harmonization of interaction between integration associations via the “integration of integration” concept. V.Makei urged to strive to avoid unnecessary and dangerous confrontation of integration models, seek their compatibility and interoperability.

The conference was attended by more than 130 guests from the ECE region, including representatives of Parliaments, Foreign Ministries, various integration structures and international organizations.
