Head of the General Department of Law and Treaties of the MFA of Belarus A.Metelitsa participates in the session of the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law of the Council of Europe

On September 15-16, 2016 in Brussels the Head of the General Department of Law and Treaties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus,  Andrei Metelitsa, participated  in the 52-nd session of the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law of the Council of Europe (CAHDI).

The participants studied and discussed recent trends in the development of Council of Europe's approach to the issues of public international law, which represent the mutual interest for its Member States, such as immunities of states and international organizations, the peaceful settlement of international disputes, reservations and interpretative declarations to international treaties, the current trends in international humanitarian law.

During the meeting, the participants discussed practice of the European Court of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court and other international courts and tribunals, which affects issues of public international law.

The participants of the meeting exchanged experience on the organization and operation of the legal services of the Foreign Ministries.

A.Metelitsa also held a number of bilateral meetings with the Heads of legal services of the MFA of the Council of Europe member states.

The sides discussed topical issues of international law, as well as bilateral cooperation.
