On June 6-10, 2016 the Belarusian delegation participates at the annual session of the Joint Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Fund for Population and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNDP/ UNFPA/ UNOPS) held in New-York.

The Belarusian delegation raised a number of questions on the activities and cooperation with the UNFPA during the discussion.

The representative of Belarus highly appreciated the Fund's efforts to enhance its efficiency, including measures to strengthen accountability, transparency and financial discipline of its work.

The Belarusian diplomat praised the effective efforts of the UNFPA to strengthen the role of women in a society. At the same time he expressed the view that the achievement of this goal is only possible in the context of systematic work of supporting the family and family values. In this regard, he expressed the wish that family issues, which are enshrined in the ICPD Programme of Action, become one of the significant priorities of the Fund.
The Belarusian delegation also drew the attention of UNFPA and member countries to the importance in the context of the new strategy of family planning to take the necessary measures in countries where there is a decline in population growth, including in Europe.

Belarus has expressed interest in working with UNFPA on various aspects of the Fund program activities, including gender equality and strengthening the role of women and girls in society. Given the fact that Belarus has already achieved considerable success in this sphere, the delegation of Belarus offered to share this positive experience with all interested parties.
