Second session of Belarusian-Ecuadorian Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation

On February 10-12, 2015 Quito (Ecuador) hosts the second session of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The Belarusian delegation is headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko, the Ecuadorian is led by the Coordinating Minister of Production, Employment and Competitiveness Richard Espinosa.

The Belarusian delegation also includes Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov, the First Deputy Minister of Industry Gennady Svidersky, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology Petr Baltrukovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ecuador Igor Poluyan, heads of Belzarubezhstroi, Belarusneft, Zapadelektrosetstroi, Stadler Minsk, Gaz Institute.

On February 10, the meeting between the head of the Belarusian delegation and Foreign Minister of Ecuador Ricardo Patiño took place. The parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields, including further development of the intergovernmental dialogue at the high and highest levels.

On February 11, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador a plenary session of the Commission and the meeting of joint working groups on industry, construction, public transportation, oil, energy, science and technology, education, healthcare took place.

The sides reached agreements on the implementation of specific cooperation projects in the above-mentioned spheres.

During the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Ecuador, political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of both countries were held.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov, the Ecuadorian was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Leonardo Arizaga.

The sides exchanged views on positions of both countries on a wide range of issues, including cooperation with major trading partners, regional integration associations, cooperation within international organizations and others.

The parties discussed the trends of development of the legal framework of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian relations.

The signing of the final protocol is scheduled for the closing plenary meeting of the Commission on February 12.
