Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus O.Kravchenko participates in the meeting of the Belarusian-Austrian Business Council

On January 31, 2018 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, participated in the third meeting of the Belarusian-Austrian Business Council.

More than 70 businessmen, representatives of state bodies and trade unions of the two countries took part in the forum. The Belarusian business delegation, which included representatives of more than 20 enterprises and organizations, was headed by the Chair of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In his welcoming statement, O.Kravchenko presented the results of the work of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Special attention was paid to the existing potential of economic cooperation between Belarus and Austria taking into account the growth of the economies of the two countries, the current context of the relations between our country and the European Union, as well as the work carried out in Belarus to improve the framework conditions for doing business.

During the presentations of Belarusian representatives, Austrian businessmen were acquainted with the business conditions at the Industrial Park “Great Stone”, the Belarusian free economic zones (on the example of FEZ “Mogilev”), the export and investment potential of the Brest region. Attendees were presented with the tourism potential of the Republic of Belarus, as well as new opportunities for cooperation in the IT field and the field of innovation, taking into account the adoption in December 2017 of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 8 “On the development of the digital economy”.

Within the framework of his visit to Austria, O.Kravchenko also met with the Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for European Affairs, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria, Michael Linhart.

The sides discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as the development of the dialogue between Belarus and the European Union.
