Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the Chair of the Working Party on Belarus' Accession to the WTO and representatives of the WTO Secretariat

On November 1, 2017 in Minsk, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the Chair of the Working Group on Belarus' Accession to the WTO, Kemal Madenoglu, and the Acting Director of the WTO Accessions Division, Maika Oshikawa.

During the meeting, Belarusian Foreign Minister informed the members of the WTO delegation about the intention of our country to become a full-fledged member of the Organization, the work done in this direction, as well as made a number of proposals on further steps to develop cooperation between Belarus and the Secretariat and WTO members.

V.Makei also shared his vision of the role and capabilities of our country in the multilateral trading system.

The participants exchanged views on the improvement of the effectiveness of the work to promote national interests of Belarus in the framework of its’ accession to the WTO, taking into account Belarus’ participation in integration associations, as well as initiatives coming up from foreign partners participating in the negotiations.

The parties also considered the preparation of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Buenos Aires (Argentina) to take part in the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference.
