Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Aleinik meets the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan

On  February 6, 2024 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov in Tashkent. 

The sides discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda. Special attention was paid to developing trade and economic cooperation and increasing the volume of mutual trade, strengthening food security and developing industrial cooperation projects.  

The interlocutors expressed confidence that the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan, which will be held in Tashkent on  February 7, 2024, will make an important contribution to strengthening economic ties and establishing direct interaction between the regions of the two countries. More than 150 representatives of the regions of Belarus and the business community will take part in the Forum. 

The Ministers noted the high level of cooperation in education, healthcare, culture, sports and tourism.

The sides exchanged views on the situation on the global arena and in the Eurasian region. 

The Foreign Ministers spoke in detail about cooperation in the UN, CIS and SCO. The sides noted the similarity of approaches to building a dialogue on international platforms and reaffirmed their mutual aspiration for a fairer world order. 

S.Aleinik thanked for the consistent support of the Uzbek side on Belarus' way to obtaining the status of a member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. 

The Ministers also reviewed the schedule of bilateral events and visits for the near future. 

During his visit to Uzbekistan, the Minister honoured the memory and laid flowers at the bust of Belarusian writer, poet and public figure Yakub Kolas, who lived in Tashkent from 1941 to 1943.
