Joint with the Council of Europe Conference on Conclusion, Observance and Interpretation of International Treaties

On September 19-20, 2019 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus hosted a joint conference on conclusion, observance and interpretation of international treaties organized by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry together with the Council of Europe Information Point in Minsk and the Secretariat of the Council of Europe.

The conference was dedicated to the new Law on International Treaties of the Republic of Belarus and the Guidelines to the Law’s application, developed by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, as well as to certain Council of Europe instruments.

More than 140 representatives of Belarusian government agencies, foreign diplomatic corps, international and non-governmental organizations attended the event.

The conference was followed by an extended meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council on International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. The Director of Legal Advice and Public International Law of the Council of Europe, Jörg Polakiewicz, and the Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Belarus, Grigory Vasilevich, delivered statements on the topic of rule of law.
