Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei participates in the opening ceremony of new premises of the Apostolic Nunciature in Minsk

On October 4, 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, took part in the official ceremony of the opening of new premises of the Apostolic Nunciature in Minsk.

The main guest of the event from the Vatican side was the Substitute of the Secretary of State of the Holy See for General Affairs, Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu.

In his welcome speech, V.Makei pointed out a special symbolism of the event in the context of celebrating in 2017 the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Belarus and the Holy See. In the past quarter century Belarus and Vatican have developed an open and sincere dialogue, exchange of visits at all levels has become regular.

“Vatican has always been and remains a reliable partner for the Republic of Belarus, also taking into account our cooperation with other countries and international organizations”, – stated the Head of the Foreign Ministry.

V.Makei mentioned a constructive and balanced approach of the Roman Catholic Church to maintaining interreligious consent in Belarus. According to the Minister, peaceful coexistence of various religions and confessions in our land named as a source of our particular pride and a considerable contribution to international peace and security.

V.Makei also wished Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Belarus Gábor Pintér and the staff of the Nunciature successful further work in our country.
